Rutland Arena is Kelowna's public-skating workhorse: two NHL-sized sheets on Dodd Road where the City runs open public skates, parent-and-tot sessions and dedicated seniors' skates through the winter, with the season reopening each October. It is the easiest place in the city to skate without owning gear, because the rental counter carries skates, helmets and push-along skate bars, and there is sharpening on site — the same rental line (866-313-5071) can answer sizing questions before you come. Public skating is pre-booked online through the City's recreation portal up to seven days ahead; bring the confirmation email as your ticket. General admission is $4.75, with children 6 to 13 at $4, preschoolers $3 and a family pass for two adults and three kids at $12. Only the general rate is sold online, so call Active Living & Culture at 250-469-8800 in advance to pay a child or preschool rate. Also known locally as the Rutland Twin Arena.
