Skating in Canada's warmest town is free: the Rotary Club of Osoyoos sponsors public skating at the Sun Bowl Arena, so the Saturday session from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. and the Sunday afternoon skate from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. cost nothing, and if you have no skates the arena's Skate Library lends pairs for free during operating hours. Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to noon belong to the Senior & Tot Skate, an easygoing session for children five and under with a guardian and for seniors, and Tuesday and Thursday at the same hour is pick-up shinny for players 19 and over in full equipment. Helmets are required for both public skating and shinny. The Sun Bowl is also home to the Osoyoos Coyotes junior hockey club, so a public session is occasionally bumped by a booking — the town posts changes and the building is open 7 a.m. to midnight through the week.
