Cheap Eats in Kelowna

You don't need a big budget to eat well in Kelowna. This guide sticks to independent, mostly family-run and owner-run places: diners, sandwich counters, pho shops, food trucks, bakeries and late-night slice shops. Most are the cheapest price level on our site, and the few that aren't are here because their listings single out the value.

The picks spread across downtown, Pandosy, Rutland, Glenmore and the Lower Mission. Food trucks and patio spots often cut back their hours from November to April, so check each listing's hours before you head out.

Breakfast for less

For a sit-down brunch with all the trimmings, see our best brunch in Kelowna guide. These are the easier-on-the-wallet mornings.

  • Norman's Diner (Rutland): an old-fashioned diner that regulars call one of the most welcoming, affordable family breakfast spots in town. Prices haven't crept up the way they have elsewhere.
  • Pulp Fiction (Pandosy): a coffee house that doubles as a rare and used bookstore, with a strong breakfast menu. Order the coffee milkshake regulars rave about and browse while you eat.
  • The Sandwich Company (Kelowna): a breakfast-and-lunch sandwich shop with a loyal following, anchored by a well-loved breakfast burrito. There are proper vegan options too.
  • Specialty Bakery & Bistro (Rutland): a scratch bakery with a bistro serving all-day breakfast and daily lunch specials on weekdays. Grab a cream-filled Kelonut on the way out.

Sandwiches and quick lunches

  • Little Hobo Soup & Sandwich Shop (Downtown): a hole-in-the-wall that's been a local staple since the 1970s. Order the grilled cheese or the three-soup flight. More bowls like this are in our soup, ramen and pho guide.
  • Banh Mi Bo Bakery (Kelowna): a dedicated banh mi bakery with baguettes baked fresh daily and a focused menu. Start with the classic.
  • Italian Sandwich Co. (Downtown): easy to walk past in a food court near the office district, but the sandwiches are built with imported meats and cheeses.
  • Rocket Subs (Kelowna): a small sub shop with a cult following for fresh ingredients and generous portions. It can sell out on weekends, so arrive early.
  • Press'd Sandwich Shop (Landmark): an owner-run shop near Landmark. Order one of the creatively named signature sandwiches.
  • Wood Fire Bakery (Kelowna): a German bakery-cafe with generous portions and fair prices. It's open weekdays only for a short midday window, so plan ahead and order the borscht and ham hock.

Noodles, pho and curry

Big bowls that go a long way. Our soup, ramen and pho guide covers the whole valley.

  • Bamboo Chopsticks Downtown (Downtown): a vegan-friendly Vietnamese spot with big portions for the price. The customizable pho is what regulars swear by.
  • Basil Leaf Asian Fusion (Glenmore): quick, affordable Vietnamese-Thai food. Order the pho, whose broth tastes like it took hours.
  • Natsukashi Neighbourhood Store & Eatery (Downtown): a nostalgic Japanese corner store stocked with snacks, where you can sit down for bowls of udon and fresh onigiri.
  • Yellow Star Snack House (Harvey Avenue): a casual Vietnamese spot for banh mi, vermicelli bowls, spring rolls and bao buns, with kind staff and vegetarian options.
  • Made in India (KLO Road): a budget-friendly Indian restaurant that suits families and groups. Reviewers mention butter chicken, rogan josh, korma and garlic naan.
  • Pick Thai Restaurant (Kelowna): a small, family-run spot on Bernard Ave where mom does the cooking, so every dish tastes homemade.

Tacos, burgers and pizza

  • Charros Takos (Kelowna): street tacos from a food truck, on fresh handmade corn tortillas. Try the tofu pastor and the bean soup on the side.
  • Streats Harvey Kitchen (Harvey Avenue): a smash burger and taco counter. The cauliflower tacos and crispy halloumi make it good for vegetarians too.
  • Latin Fiesta (Kelowna): affordable, authentic Latin American food. Order the chilaquiles or the pozole, and there's a proper kids' menu.
  • Pandosy Pizza (Pandosy): known for a homemade-tasting tomato sauce on a generous, non-greasy pie.
  • Panjabi Pizzeria (Rutland): halal Indian-fusion pizza with dine-in tables. Reviewers say the Achari Chicken pizza is worth the wait.

Bakeries and sweet stops

  • 350° Bakehouse and Cafe (Spall Road): a from-scratch bakery for donuts, cronuts, lemon tarts, scones and sausage rolls, plus deli sandwiches and a daily soup.
  • Jaide & Joel's Baking Co. (Rutland): fresh baking, lunch options and coffee, with free parking behind the building.
  • Tripke Bakery Too (North Glenmore): big muffins, flaky pastries, sausage rolls and a good selection of gluten-free treats, close to a walking trail.
  • Milk Shed Coffeehouse (Kelowna): a heritage barn attached to a brewery, with cinnamon buns famous enough to justify the trip.
  • Empire Crepe (Kelowna): a family-run counter that makes everything hot to order. Start savory, then finish with the salted caramel crepe.

Late-night bites

  • City Pizza (Pandosy): open past midnight, with slices on a light sauce and a fluffy crust. It's well loved for supporting the local homeless community with warm meals.
  • Halfmoon Pizzeria + Donair (Kelowna): pizza and donair under one roof, and neither feels like an afterthought. Order one of each.
