Scenic Canyon Regional Park

Scenic Canyon is where the Mission Creek Greenway turns wild: a 229-hectare natural area in southeast Kelowna where the trails follow Mission Creek and KLO Creek beneath Layer Cake Mountain and Pinnacle Rock, two of the valley's most striking geological features. The Greenway runs right through the park — its Hollywood Road to Hydraulic Creek section is 7.1 km and rated moderate, with stairs and bridges — so it suits walkers who want more than a flat stroll, while the park's own short trails add the 1.2 km Saskatoon Trail, the 230-metre Rock Ovens Trail past the old stone ovens and the steep 240-metre Pinnacle Trail, rated difficult. The Black Bear Trail is currently closed and parts of the park are closed for hazards; obey the signs. Washrooms, picnic tables and viewpoints are in the park, and dogs are welcome on leash. Park at the end of Field Road or at the Hollywood Road South entrance; the Field Road and McCulloch Road vehicle entrances are closed from November to March, when maintenance is reduced. Hours shift with the seasons, from 6 a.m. to between 6 and 11 p.m.
