Okanagan Rail Trail

The Okanagan Rail Trail follows the former CN rail bed for roughly 50 km between Coldstream and Kelowna, and 16 km of it run through the District of Lake Country. From the north the compact gravel trail hugs the shoreline of marl-blue Kalamalka Lake and passes under a historic trestle, crosses the Oyama isthmus with its seasonal cafes, shops and Wood Lake beaches, then follows the east shore of Wood Lake past Ribbleworth Falls, orchards and farmland; the Kelowna section is paved. It is an easy, flat multi-use trail shared with cyclists, and dogs must be on leash. The Regional District of North Okanagan lists trailhead parking at 8203 Westkal Road in Coldstream, at Kekuli Bay Provincial Park and at College Way in Vernon, with further access points along Lake Country's section. The trail is not yet continuous: a gap of about 7 km near the Kelowna boundary remains undeveloped, so check the current map before planning a through-trip.
