Inkaneep Provincial Park Campground

Inkaneep is the smallest provincial campground in the South Okanagan and one of its best-kept secrets: seven vehicle-accessible sites on the bank of the Okanagan River six kilometres north of Oliver, each walled in by thickets of wild rose that give more privacy than most parks ten times the size. It suits tents, vans and small trailers — BC Parks is explicit that fifth wheels and large motorhomes will not fit — and it works on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations, so a weekday arrival is the way to get a site in July. The reward is waking up in the middle of the Golden Mile wine country with the river a few steps away, Oliver's shops five minutes down the highway and the International Hike and Bike Trail on the river dyke. The gate is open from mid-May to mid-September; pets stay on leash.
