Where to Eat in Kelowna
Kelowna has more places to eat than any other town in the valley, and the good ones aren't all on Bernard Avenue. This guide spreads out across the city: special-occasion dinners, neighbourhood kitchens in Pandosy and Rutland, cooking from Cuba to the Philippines, old-school fish and chips, easy family meals, serious coffee and fully plant-based menus.
We've kept this list mostly to places our other Kelowna guides don't cover, so use them together. For mornings, see the best brunch in Kelowna. For eating outside, try Kelowna's best patios. For drinks and deals, there's happy hour in Kelowna and cheap eats in Kelowna, and for a night out for two, date night in Kelowna. Some kitchens, especially winery restaurants, cut back their hours from November to April, so check each listing first.
Dinner worth booking
For a celebration, or a night when the meal is the plan.
- La Bussola Restaurant (Kelowna): fine-dining Italian built on a slow-cooked tomato sauce. The kitchen takes dietary needs seriously and once served a gluten-free, dairy-sensitive guest real gnocchi.
- Gather Restaurant (Kelowna): an elegant room that blends Italian and Korean cooking into one ambitious, strikingly plated menu. Order a dish that leans into both.
- Okanagan Table (Kelowna): a farm-to-table event kitchen on Pandosy St, run by chef Rod and Audrey, with 25 years of local reputation behind it. Book one of the Signature Friday dinners or a private hosted meal.
- Journey Restaurant (Kelowna): the winery restaurant at Azhadi Vineyards, led by Group Executive Chef Alain Leger, blending Persian heritage with classical French technique.
- Home Block at CedarCreek Estate Winery (Kelowna): fine dining at the winery, with panoramic views of West Kelowna and a rotating menu. Ask what's on now.
Neighbourhood favourites
The places locals keep going back to, from Pandosy and the Mission to Rutland and downtown.
- Mr. Lu's Kitchen (Pandosy): a Chinese kitchen serving regional flavour rather than a generalized version. It's open most days for lunch, and the cumin lamb is the dish to order.

- Taki Japanese Grill (Rutland): a longtime Rutland favourite. Order a bento box: big portions at reasonable prices.
- Shambhu's Spice House Cuisine of India (Rutland): the owner once walked a family through an onion- and garlic-free meal. Mention any restrictions freely.

Global flavours
A short tour of the world without leaving town.

Seafood & steak
From a fish and chips shop open since 1948 to a new oyster bar.
- Raw Action Oyster Co. (downtown): a buzzing new oyster bar with fresh west coast oysters, scallops and caviar. Gluten-free options are thought through, and the caviar makes it something extra special.
- Shady Rest Fish & Chips (Kelowna): serving Kelowna since 1948, now with its fourth family of owners. Fries are cut in-house, and the halibut and cod are fresh.
- Broken Anchor Cafe and Catering (Kelowna): a small, spotless shop where every fish and chips option is gluten-free. Regulars mention the tartar sauce, and the gluten-free pineapple fritters surprise people.
- Codfather's Seafood Market (Kelowna): a fish market and counter in one, with halibut and chips in a light, crisp batter and whatever's fresh that day.
- Derrick's Steakhouse (Kelowna): an upscale steakhouse with a special-occasion feel that still works with kids at the table. Book it for a family celebration.
Casual & family
Easy meals where nobody minds a bit of noise.

Full vegan menus that non-vegans enjoy too.
