Okanagan Ski Season 2026–27: Opening Days & Events

Big White's opening day is Thursday, November 26, and SilverStar's alpine opening day is Friday, November 27. This guide lists those two dates and every event we have on the calendar at both mountains for the 2026–27 season: the opening-weekend parties, Big Reds at Big White, the village light-ups, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve on the hill, the Loose Moose Challenge scavenger hunts, the holiday rail jam, and the races and family days that fill out January to March.

Events are grouped by time of season, in date order, and each one shows its mountain and date. Apex and Baldy have no events listed yet, so they get a short section of their own at the end. Snow decides opening days, so check the resort before you drive up.

Apex and Baldy

Neither Apex nor Baldy has events listed yet for 2026–27, so there are no dates here. For lifts, lodges and where to eat on both hills, see our Apex & Baldy ski guide. These are the places to know for a day on either one.

  • Apex Mountain Resort (Apex): Penticton's home mountain, about a 30-minute drive from town, with 2,000 vertical feet and 85 runs. Friday and Saturday nights are its signature: from 4 to 9 pm the T-bar and Magic Carpet run under lights for night skiing, and Friday nights come with half-price lift tickets and rentals. A winter shuttle runs from Penticton on weekends.
  • Tim Hortons Tube Park – Apex (Apex): at the base area beside the beginner slopes, running on weekends and holidays through the season and under lights on Friday and Saturday nights. 2026/27 tickets are sold in two-hour blocks: $30 for adults, $20 for juniors aged 8 to 12, a $15 Friday Night Special for all ages and a $75 family rate for up to six.
  • Adventure Skating Loop & Shinny Pond – Apex (Apex): a kilometre of Zamboni-smoothed ice looping through the forest, with the Shinny Pond beside it for pickup hockey. For 2026/27 a full-day skate pass is $15 for ages 13 and up and $7.50 for 12 and under; it's weather-dependent natural ice.
  • Baldy Mountain Resort (Baldy): the South Okanagan's ski hill: a small, friendly, family hill with short lift lines, famous for its tree runs. New this winter is cat skiing from the top of the Eagle Chair to Baldy's upper terrain, Friday to Sunday. The Magic Carpet stays open until 7 pm on Friday and Saturday nights for tubing and beginner skiing under the lights. Winter tyres are strongly recommended for the road up.
  • Baldy Snowshoe Trails (Baldy): about 13 kilometres of marked trail through the high forest around the day lodge, with snowshoe rentals and guided tours. An easy add-on when only some of your group wants to ride the lifts, with the Corduroy Cafe for the warm-up afterwards.
