Island Lake Recreation Site (Dee Lake chain)

Island Lake is the public campground of the Dee Lake chain — the string of trout lakes in the high country behind Winfield — with 34 forested sites on a lake full of small, keen rainbows. It is a fee-for-service Recreation Site, so expect a modest nightly charge and tables and toilets in return, and Beaver Lake Mountain Resort's store is a few minutes back down the road if you forget the coffee. The lake is a water supply and its level moves through the season; bring a canoe rather than a big boat.
