Sun-Oka Beach Provincial Park

Sun-Oka is the big south-facing bay just south of Summerland where 500 metres of fine sand and a sandy lake bottom make swimming in the buoyed area feel easy, and where around 90 picnic tables and designated fire pits mean a whole extended family can settle in. There is a playground built for ages five to twelve, paddle boats for rent, a designated boating beach and a summer concession. Two pit toilets, one wheelchair-accessible, sit by the playground, with flush toilets, a change building and drinking water elsewhere in the park; five lots hold about 200 cars plus RV and trailer parking. Watch for motorboats and jet skis near the buoys, and note there are no lifeguards. Dogs must stay on leash and out of the main beach areas; a separate pet beach lies east of the main beach. Day-use only, gate open dawn to dusk.
