Fintry Provincial Park

Fintry is the big west-shore day out: a natural sand beach with warm water along almost two kilometres of Okanagan Lake waterfront, on Fintry Delta Road off Westside Road about 34 km north of Kelowna and 49 km south of Vernon. Swim off the beach, launch a canoe or kayak, fish, or stay over in the campground. Behind the beach the former Fintry Estate gives this park something no other Okanagan beach has: the Manor House with guided tours of the house and its story, the octagonal barn and other farm buildings, and the Shorts Creek canyon trail past waterfalls and deep pools, with viewing platforms for birds, small mammals, deer and bighorn sheep. There are no lifeguards. Pets must be on leash at all times and are not allowed in the beach areas, except at the designated pet beach. Boaters can reach it too, 6 km across the lake from Ellison Park or Kopje Regional Park. The campground is the largest on the west shore — 190 sites (186 reservable), 30 with power, plus three group camping pods for 40 to 60 people — with three shower buildings, a paved boat launch and dock and a sani-station; blue-listed bighorn sheep and Townsend's big-eared bats share the park with a nesting pair of bald eagles.
