MNP Place

MNP Place — the multi-rink complex on Gordon Drive that many locals still call the Capital News Centre — is where Kelowna's hockey players get their drop-in fix. From Thanksgiving to Spring Break the leisure rink opens for weekday public skating, with skate and skate-trainer rentals on hand (no helmet rentals, and helmets are required for anyone under 18). The real draw is the ice-time menu: Stick & Puck sessions run in late-morning and midday slots for skaters of any age who want to work on their shot — $10 to $11 a person, capped at 30 skaters, helmets mandatory with a CSA face cage for under-18s, and strictly no scrimmages, goalies or lessons, because the session is unsupervised. Adult Drop-In Hockey (19+) is a friendly, fast-paced game offered several times a week between late morning and mid-afternoon, and goalies skate free. Everything is booked through the DaySmart Recreation calendar on the venue's site, so check it for the week's times before you drive over.
