Peachland Outdoor Ice Rink (Mountain View Park)

Peachland's outdoor rink is a labour of love. Every evening at 9 p.m. through the cold snap, volunteers from Peachland Fire and Rescue flood the surface at Mountain View Park — the old riding-club grounds about five kilometres up Princeton Avenue, across from the District's Public Works yard — and the next morning it opens free to anyone, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., with lights for the evening. It is set up for 3-on-3 hockey as well as pleasure skating, so bring sticks if you want a game, and bring everything else too: there are no rentals and the ice cannot be booked privately. Because the rink relies on natural freezing, it only runs when temperatures stay below zero for a stretch, typically from late December or January into February, and a warm week can close it; the District posts status updates, and 250-767-2647 can confirm before you drive up the hill.
