Nelson Mountain Trail

A full-day alpine hike north of Lumby: from the end of the Mabel-Taylor Forest Service Road (about 35 km from town), walk an old logging road to the trail, then climb into meadows over Mandela Mountain (2,196 m) to Mount Nelson (2,187 m), with views of Finlayson and Dungate lakes, Tsuius Mountain, Mount Fosthall and the Monashees. It's about 11.4 km one way; best from July to September. Watch for logging trucks.
