Aberdeen Columns Trail

A short, steep climb (about 220 m) to dozens of 20 m hexagonal basalt columns on a ridge south of Lavington. The trailhead is about 18 km up gravel forest roads (Buck Hills Road), with logging trucks, no cell signal and parking for only a few cars; the road isn't ploughed, so go from May to October.
